What is Reflexology?

Reflexology (zone therapy) is an alternative medicine method involving the practice of massaging or applying pressure to parts of the feet with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health. The areas on the foot correspond to areas of the body, and that by manipulating these one can improve health through one's Chi (life force).

What can I expect during a Reflexology session?

During a reflexology session, the feet are the primary area of application. Application of pressure following meridian (energy) lines on the feet, correspond to an individuals' pain, stress, or affected organs. Reflexology is usually performed without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, though some therapists will use them to achieve fasical or muscular release.

What are the benefits of Reflexology?

Reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body. Most people find reflexology deeply soothing and comforting. It is also a great treatment for those who cannot lie facedown on a massage table, those who are uncomfortable fully undressing (can be done with pants rolled up to the knee), or those who love more work on their feet!
